Logate and Apache Cassandra

Logate, a software solutions company that serves customers in the telecom and banking sectors, uses Apache Cassandra as its database of choice. Logate’s flagship product, OpenProvider, is a network policy management platform that helps telecommunications providers with user authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA). OpenProvider is a 3GPP compatible AAA server that enables real-time network management on various attributes, allowing telecom operators to manage and monetize their carrier network for all access technologies, including WiFi, fixed-line services like DSL and Fibre To The Home, and mobile broadband services from 3G and 4G LTE through to 5G.

Logate uses Apache Cassandra to deliver a geo-distributed database for OpenProvider AAA server deployments, ensuring that telecoms deliver reliable service for their customers. By using Cassandra, Logate’s product is currently the only one that can work in a load-sharing mode across multiple data center locations, providing better redundancy and easier scaling over time.

Using Apache Cassandra, Logate can now reach tens of thousands of transactions per second (TPS) with its geo-redundant setup, which was not possible with its legacy application technology stack. Apache Cassandra allows Logate to make its applications ready for cloud environments and scale up without any service outage, enabling it to handle ever-increasing amounts of data and throughput.

Stack Includes: Apache Cassandra, Java, Spring Boot
