A little more than 5 years ago, the first public release of Cassandra was published within the Apache Software Foundation. On March 29th 2009, Jonathan Ellis pushed 35 patches to Apache Cassandra. Today, multiple contributors, across many industries, have contributed close to 45,000 patches to produce a distributed database with innate multi-region support that stays performant while providing tunable consistency with high availability.

The following video was created to highlight the contributions of Cassandra community as it’s helped foster a mature database through features and stability.
